Baldwin Conservation Lab at Clemson University: The Baldwin lab at Clemson University is committed to examining pressing ecological concerns throughout the Appalachians from the Gaspe' Penninsula to central Alabama. However, most of the current work being done in the lab is concentrated in the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains. Clemson is conveniently located within a short drive to some of the most interesting aquatic landscapes in the country and furthermore, one of the worlds largest biodiversity hotspots for forest communities, salamanders, and freshwater mussels. This biodiversity, along with rich cultural and historical significance, makes this area prime for landscape-scale conservation planning.

Audubon Pennsylvania: With a century of conservation history in Pennsylvania, Audubon strives to conserve and restore the habitats we share with all wildlife, focusing on the needs of birds.

Association for Fire Ecology: The Association for Fire Ecology is an organization of professionals dedicated to improving the knowledge and use of fire in land management through science and education.

Arkansas River Watershed Collaborative: The Arkansas River Watershed Collaborative (ARWC) grew out of the process of wildfire and its effects on water and communities. As fires in the Arkansas River Basin and across the state were becoming more intense and frequent, the need for organized community and agency partnerships to address impacts and preserve the health of our watersheds became clear and urgent.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission: The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s mission is to conserve and enhance Arkansas’s fish and wildlife and their habitats while promoting sustainable use, public understanding and support.

Arizona Association of Conservation Districts: The Arizona Association of Conservation Districts was established in 1944 by Arizona’s Conservation Districts as a means of support to help coordinate and fund locally-led conservation efforts across the state and to unify and represent District goals and interests.

Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management: The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management provides resources for the prevention and suppression of wildland fire on State Trust Land and private property located outside incorporated communities. The agency provides services for fire prevention, urban and community forestry, forest stewardship, forest health, utilization and marketing, and has a wide variety of grants available.

Arizona Antelope Foundation: Our mission is to increase pronghorn populations in Arizona through habitat improvements, habitat acquisition, the translocation of animals to historic range, and public comment on activities affecting pronghorn and their habitat. As a 501c3 nonprofit, all of our proceeds help advance our mission.

Appalachian Trail Conservancy: The Appalachian Trail Conservancy’s mission is to preserve and manage the Appalachian Trail – ensuring that its vast natural beauty and priceless cultural heritage can be shared and enjoyed today, tomorrow, and for centuries to come.

Appalachian Stewardship Foundation: Our vision is for environmental values to lead our energy future – clean streams, clear skies and a stable climate, with the least amount of energy necessary to provide the goods and services we need. ASF seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to protect freshwater streams and tributaries against the effects of pollution from energy development and use.

Appalachian Regional Reforestation Initiative: The Appalachian Regional Reforestation Initiative (ARRI) is a coalition of groups, including citizens, the coal industry, and government dedicated to restoring forests on coal mined lands in the Eastern United States. ARRI seeks to change the existing Cultural, Technical, and Regulatory barriers surrounding the forestry reclamation of coal mined lands. Culturally, it intends to change the perception that tree planting is more expensive and risky than conventional reclamation, provide education on the impacts of compaction and change the perception of what good forestry reclamation should look like. Technically, it seeks to eliminate excessive surface compaction, ground cover competition, and inappropriate growth medium. Finally, ARRI seeks to change the perception that regulations impede effective reforestation techniques and interfere with bond release.

Appalachian Mountains Joint Venture: The Appalachian Mountains Joint Venture (AMJV) is one of 18 habitat Joint Venture partnerships in the United States. It is comprised of state and federal government agencies, non-governmental organizations, universities, and industries that work together to prioritize and coordinate conservation activities while building upon scientific knowledge. They work with researchers and resource managers to design and implement effective conservation projects for native bird species throughout their annual life cycles, targeting breeding, migration, and over-wintering areas.

Appalachian Headwaters: Appalachian Headwaters, a nonprofit organization, is a leader in environmental education and reforestation of mined land in central Appalachia.

Antioch University: Founded in 1852, our first president – politician, abolitionist, and education reformer – Horace Mann, sought to build an Antioch whose education inspired students to seek a more socially just world. Today’s Antioch remains firmly committed to nonsectarian, co-educational pathways to innovation and progress – as originally intended.
