NatureServe Climate Vulnerability Index: The NatureServe Climate Change Vulnerability Index can help identify plant and animal species that are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

NatureServe: NatureServe represents an international network of biological inventories-known as natural heritage programs or conservation data centers-operating in all 50 U.S. states, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The network not only collects and manages detailed local information on plants, animals, and ecosystems, but develops information products, data management tools, and conservation services to help meet local, national, and global conservation needs.

National Wetlands Inventory: The National Wetlands Inventory Program has been producing wetland maps and geospatial wetland data for the United States since the mid-1970s. The focus of the program has been to map or prepare digital databases to deliver to the public, as well as project and report on national wetland trends using a probability-based sampling design.

National Geospatial Management Center: The National Geospatial Management Center (NGMC) has long been respected for the quality of maps it produces to support various Natural Resource Conservation Service projects and programs. In addition to producing maps, NGMC is a major distributor of geospatial data to support National, State and local field needs.

National Geographic Foundation: LandScope America: LandScope America is a new online resource for the land-protection community and the public. By bringing together maps, data, photos, and stories about America’s natural places and open spaces, the project informs and inspires conservation of lands and waters.

National Geographic Foundation: FieldScope: National Geographic FieldScope is a web-based mapping, analysis, and collaboration tool designed to support geographic investigations and engage students as citizen scientists investigating real-world issues - both in the classroom and in outdoor education settings.

National Conservation Easement Database: This is the first national database of conservation easement information, compiling records from land trusts and public agencies throughout the United States.

Forest Inventory and Analysis National Program: This program collects, analyzes, and reports information on the status and trends of America’s forests: how much forest exists, where it exists, who owns it, and how it is changing, as well as how the trees and other forest vegetation are growing and how much has died or has been removed in recent years.

EPA Southeastern Ecological Framework Project: The Southeastern Ecological Framework Project is a GIS-based analysis to identify ecologically significant areas and connectivity in the southeast region of the U.S.

EISPC Energy Zones Mapping Tool: The Eastern Interconnection States' Planning Council (EISPC) Energy Zones Mapping Tool is a free online tool that enables users to identify potential clean energy resource areas within the Eastern Transmission Interconnection. The tool includes nine types of energy resources to be considered for clean energy generation facilities in the U.S. portion of the Eastern Interconnection. These types are biomass, clean coal technologies with carbon capture and sequestration, geothermal, natural gas, nuclear, solar (photovoltaic and concentrated solar thermal, as well as rooftop photovoltaic solar), storage (pumped-hydro storage and compressed-air energy storage), water (hydroelectric power), and wind (both land-based and offshore). For each of these major categories, the resource data and information have been compiled, reviewed, and assembled into a GIS database. The Mapping Tool provides a way to put environmental data into the hands of energy planners and can be used by agencies or NGOs as a starting point for a dialog about their conservation objectives.

Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center: The Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center is an interdisciplinary resource that is actively developing new technology and tools to anticipate and respond to emerging eastern forest threats.

Abandoned Mineland Acid Mine Drainage (AML AMD) Inventory: An inventory of land and water impacted by past mining (primarily coal mining) is maintained by the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement to provide information needed to implement the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977. The inventory contains information on the location, type, and extent of abandoned mined lands, as well as information on the cost associated with the reclamation of those problems.

EPA Releases Agency Plans for Adapting to a Changing Climate: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today released its draft Climate Change Adaptation Implementation Plans for public review and comment. In support of President Obama’s Climate Action Plan and Executive Order on Preparing the United States for the Impacts of Climate Change announced today, the Implementation Plans provide detailed information about the actions EPA plans to take across the country to help communities adapt to a changing climate.
