Research Project Background Information: This folder contains a summary description of the RFP and the proposal of the Riparian Restoration project funded by the Appalachian LCC in FY11/12 as well as additional project background information.

Riparian Restoration Figure 1: Riparian corridor areas in Virginia that are high priority (black = upper quartile of solar gain and less than 70% canopy cover) for riparian restoration to mitigate water temperature increases. Brook trout priority areas are defined by elevation gradients (0-300 m low priority; 300 – 600m average priority; > 600m high priority). Cross hatched polygons represent existing brook trout habitats. Blue and green elevation gradients represent potential cold water brook trout habitat.

Project Scope of Work - Data Needs and GIS: We propose to review conservation planning tools, data needs, and integrative processes for the Appalachian LCC and provide packages of available data, as well as interpretive text. We will review ISC conservation planning goals and based on those, prioritize and justify gaps that need to be filled (e.g., through RFAs). We will apply conservation planning tools, using available data, to the AppLCC area and provide data products that result from those applications.
