Roundtable Discussion on The Future of Federal Agency Collaboration in Landscape-Scale Planning: The Landscape Conservation Cooperatives National Coordination Office, in partnership with federal agencies, has organized this initial conversation about the future of federal agency collaboration in landscape-scale planning. It is envisioned additional conversations will be necessary to fully explore agency interests and opportunities. It is recognized that the federal family does not work in isolation in landscape-scale planning. The intention is to broaden the conversation with states, other partners, and tribes in the future.

Residents Encouraged to Participate in Appalachian Bat Survey: Pennsylvania Game Commission biologists are seeking assistance from residents in a regional monitoring effort to collect bat maternity colony data this summer. This monitoring is especially important to measure bat mortalities caused by White-Nose Syndrome (WNS), a disease that affects hibernating bats in Pennsylvania and other parts of the eastern United States.

NRCS, Landowners Improve Habitat for At-risk Species: Through voluntary conservation, American farmers, ranchers and forestland owners are restoring and protecting habitat for seven at-risk wildlife species.

EISPC Energy Zones Mapping Tool: The Eastern Interconnection States' Planning Council (EISPC) Energy Zones Mapping Tool is a free online tool that enables users to identify potential clean energy resource areas within the Eastern Transmission Interconnection. The tool includes nine types of energy resources to be considered for clean energy generation facilities in the U.S. portion of the Eastern Interconnection. These types are biomass, clean coal technologies with carbon capture and sequestration, geothermal, natural gas, nuclear, solar (photovoltaic and concentrated solar thermal, as well as rooftop photovoltaic solar), storage (pumped-hydro storage and compressed-air energy storage), water (hydroelectric power), and wind (both land-based and offshore). For each of these major categories, the resource data and information have been compiled, reviewed, and assembled into a GIS database. The Mapping Tool provides a way to put environmental data into the hands of energy planners and can be used by agencies or NGOs as a starting point for a dialog about their conservation objectives.

National Geographic Foundation: FieldScope: National Geographic FieldScope is a web-based mapping, analysis, and collaboration tool designed to support geographic investigations and engage students as citizen scientists investigating real-world issues - both in the classroom and in outdoor education settings.

National Geographic Foundation: LandScope America: LandScope America is a new online resource for the land-protection community and the public. By bringing together maps, data, photos, and stories about America’s natural places and open spaces, the project informs and inspires conservation of lands and waters.

National Geospatial Management Center: The National Geospatial Management Center (NGMC) has long been respected for the quality of maps it produces to support various Natural Resource Conservation Service projects and programs. In addition to producing maps, NGMC is a major distributor of geospatial data to support National, State and local field needs.

National Conservation Easement Database: This is the first national database of conservation easement information, compiling records from land trusts and public agencies throughout the United States.

Forest Inventory and Analysis National Program: This program collects, analyzes, and reports information on the status and trends of America’s forests: how much forest exists, where it exists, who owns it, and how it is changing, as well as how the trees and other forest vegetation are growing and how much has died or has been removed in recent years.
