Doug is currently the Assistant Director for the Division of Fish, Wildlife and Marine Resources in New York State’s Department of Environmental Conservation. Doug earned his B.S. in Fisheries Science from Virginia Tech and M.S. in Fisheries Ecology from Iowa State University. His New York experiences have been varied as a Regional Biologist on the Hudson River and in Central New York’s Finger Lakes area, as the statewide fisheries Unit Leader, and Chief for DEC’s Bureau of Fisheries for 10+ years prior to becoming Assistant Division Director.
Doug is a Life Member of the American Fisheries Society and has served AFS as president of the New York Chapter, Northeastern Division (NED), and Fisheries Administration Section. He was Program Co-chair for the 2006 AFS meeting in Lake Placid and has served on numerous committees for AFS Parent Society, AFS-NED, and NY Chapter. Doug received the AFS-NED Meritorious Service Award in 2007. He currently serves as Chair for the Council of Great Lakes Fisheries Agencies and as Chair of the Steering Committee for the Eastern Brook Trout Joint Venture (Fish Habitat Partnership).
