To free up land for biodiversity conservation while satisfying growing food demand, techno-optimist narratives suggest indefinitely increasing agricultural productivity, including through massive pesticide use. But this view, which has made its way from an academic niche into corporate and policy-making circles, overlooks the complexity of natural ecosystems and the market dynamics that regulate access to food.

Based in New York City, BUGs reach is national through its annual conference.

The Northeast Farmers of Color Network

The Northeast Farmers of Color Network is an informal alliance of Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and Asian farmers making our lives on land in the Northeast region. There are 21 founding member farms and a total of over 515 farmers, land stewards, and earth workers in our network.
Currently, the Network exists as a members-only listserv* and we also gather regionally and annually for skillshares and knowledge exchanges.
