Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (SEAFWA): The Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (SEAFWA) is an organization whose members are the state agencies with primary responsibility for management and protection of the fish and wildlife resources in 15 states, Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands. Member states are Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Fire Management: The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has assumed a leadership role in the use of fire to maintain and support healthy ecosystems. The Service has traditionally led DOI agencies in using prescribed fire to reduce dangerously overgrown vegetation, known as "hazardous fuels," keeping lands in good condition while accomplishing the most with the least funding.
