Partners
The title "Partners" is used loosely here to include those organizations and agencies that are currently participating in formal, regional partnerships related to Wildland Fire and those who have roles and responsibilities linked to Wildland Fire. Because the Wildland Fire site was conceived as a clearinghouse for fire interests related to landscape conservation, we've included a broad list of Partners who either host web content that may be of interest to others and/or manage natural resources affected by wildfires or benefiting from fire management. Please contact us if you would like your organization/agency added to this list; and conversely, let us know if you wish to be removed from this list for any reason.
Mariposa County Fire Safe Council
The mission of the Mariposa County Fire Safe Council is to protect the people of Mariposa County and their property from the effects of catastrophic wildfire through education, cooperation, innovation and action.
Mescal Fire District
The Mescal-J6 Fire District provides fire suppression, emergency medical and rescue services to the communities of J-6, Mescal,Empire Acres, Skyline, Empire and Salcido Acres, as well as 11 miles of Interstate 10.
Missouri Department of Conservation-Forest Care
MDC manages nearly one million Missouri acres for conservation and public use.
Mountain Soil and Water Conservation District
The Mountain Soil & Water Conservation District, a legal subdivision within the state of Virginia, is charged with conserving the soil and water resources of Highland, Bath, and Alleghany Counties, and the City of Covington. The District works closely with partner agencies in order to help farmers, other landowners and land managers, businesses, and local units of government in the wise management and protection of their natural resources.
National Extension Wildland Fire Initiative
The National Extension Wildland Fire Initiative (NEWFI) is an initiative of the Association of Natural Resource Extension Professionals (ANREP). NEWFI facilitates a Cooperative Extension system-wide responses to wildland fire issues; provides professional development and educational resources; and supports wildland fire and natural resources management with Extension professionals.

Northwest Montana Hazardous Fuels Program
The treatment of hazardous fuels is one of the most proactive ways to reduce potential loss of life and property in the event of a wildland fire. By following Firewise™ practices, creating defensible space, and treating fuels, you can lower your fire risk while increasing the chances that fire protection agencies can effectively deal with a wildland fire should it occur. Cost- share funding is available now in some areas to help landowners with the cost of reducing their hazardous fuels.
Oak Woodlands & Forests Fire Consortium
The Oak Woodlands & Forests Fire Consortium is an exchange for fire science information. Funded by the Joint Fire Science Program, our goal is to increase the availability and consideration of credible fire science information to those making land management decisions.

Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board
The Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board is a state agency that provides grants to help Oregonians take care of local streams, rivers, wetlands, and natural areas. Community members and landowners use scientific criteria to decide jointly what needs to be done to conserve and improve rivers and natural habitat in the places where they live. OWEB grants are funded from the Oregon Lottery, federal dollars, and salmon license plate revenue.
Prescribed Fire Community of Practice
The Prescribed Fire Community of Practice (CoP) provides a clearinghouse for information on conducting controlled burns and the effects of fire on plants and wildlife. The CoP also offers information on fire through articles, FAQs from the nation’s top prescribed fire personnel, and up-to-date fire news and events. The CoP is a National Cooperative Extension Resource.
